Closing an open staircase Amsterdam
In Amsterdam I fully closed an open staircase with a quarter turn. There was nothing between the treads, so the staircase looked dated and you could see straight through it.
I fitted risers between the treads that I made exactly to size, including in the turn where every opening is different. The risers were fitted tightly and glued in place. I then gave the underside of the staircase a neat white finish too, so the stairs look tidy from every side.
The result is a closed, well finished staircase: calmer in appearance, safer to use and ready for a beautiful final finish. Closing an open staircase is often the first step of a complete staircase renovation. I am happy to help you decide what suits best after that.
