In Hilversum RenovaStairs takes care of staircase renovation, made-to-measure handrails and joinery that suits the style of your home. Here I fitted a new handrail with balusters along an open staircase to the void, securely fixed with matching brackets. The stairs became safer and the hall gained a neat, clean finish.

1930s homes and villas call for bespoke work

Hilversum is known for its 1930s houses, villa districts and the architecture of Dudok. In homes like these the charm lies in the details: a staircase with a wooden landing, panelled doors, decorative mouldings. That is why I work with materials that respect that character, such as laminate or PVC in a warm wood tone or a classic wooden handrail. In a 1930s home, for example, I boxed in a meter cupboard with panels, mouldings and small hatches, so the meters and fuse box stay accessible but out of sight.

The Gooi is a regular part of my working area. In Naarden I laid herringbone laminate and fitted a loft ladder into the existing ceiling.
