In Utrecht RenovaStairs renovates stairs with PVC, rigid PVC or laminate and lays floors that match them in colour and decor, from click PVC to engineered oak. Close to the city I laid an engineered oak floor in Den Dolder, a floor with a real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer core that works well with underfloor heating. In Austerlitz, near Zeist, I laid a herringbone laminate in a light oak shade.

An older town house or a new build in Leidsche Rijn

Utrecht has pre-war neighbourhoods such as Lombok, Wittevrouwen and Oog in Al alongside the large new-build area of Leidsche Rijn. In an older house I often find stairs with layers of paint or old covering, which I strip and prime before the new treads go on. In a new build the stairs are usually still bare or simply finished, and you can go straight for PVC slabs, laminate or stairs I paint cleanly with anti-slip stair lacquer. On underfloor heating I fully glue engineered or multi-layer oak.
