Stripping and priming a staircase
On this straight staircase I removed the old covering and primed the whole staircase again. The treads still had carpet and stubborn glue residue on them, and you cannot apply a new finish on top of that.
A clean final result starts with good preparation. So I first removed the old covering and all the glue residue from the treads and risers completely. Only once the staircase was fully clean did I prime it evenly. After all, for a renovation with glued treads a staircase must be free of glue and carpet.
The result is a clean, smooth and evenly white staircase, ready for a new, durable finish. Whether that will be lacquer, PVC or laminate, this base makes for a crisp result. I am happy to look at what your staircase needs during a free consultation.
